I had always dreamed of having my own salon from the time I graduated beauty school. It took me 10 years of assisting and working for other people before I finally went out on my own and opened SKH. Wait...did I just out myself that I have been doing hair for 20 YEARS?!
I am so pleased and lucky to be able say I truly love what I do, daily. I am beyond passionate about making people feel their absolute best and finding clean and natural beauty.
Before opening SKH I was working in a salon in Ballard and would come get facials at Jill Bucy on my days off. I loved the feeling of coming into the Marqueen Hotel and getting pampered. One day Jill mentioned the hotel was working on a beauty and wellness corner in the empty office next door to her spa. I went to talk to the hotel manager that day and signed my lease soon after. After 6 months of construction, I was able to transform a little office space into the SKH salon you see today.
Whether you have been with me from day one when I was just an assistant, a few years or a few appointments, I want to thank you for continuing to support my dream of being a small business owner. I am so grateful for each and every one of you!
Since we opened in 2011 we have grown in the best way possible with the addition of Taylor in 2016 (woop woop)! My passion for sustainability in the beauty industry continues to grow. I look forward to bringing you more BEAUTIFUL HAIR,niche non-toxic beauty, and continuing to support female, indie and BIPOC brands. My hope is when you leave the salon you walk down that hallway like I did in 2011, feeling like a badass.
