How do I make an appointment?

Do you require a credit card to book an appointment?

We require a credit card to hold and reserve all bookings. Sarah Kahn will personally take this information by phone and put it in our secure system. This allows us to hold and reserve the appointment for you. If you are unable to make the appointment we enforce our our cancellation policy by charging the card on file.

Where are you/ How to find us?

We are inside the Marqueen Hotel, come through the hotel lobby and you will find us at the end of the hall on the right hand side. You cant miss us!

Where can I park?

We offer complimentary valet parking for all Sarah Kahn Hair guests receiving services. There is usually plenty of street parking. For a shorter appointment there is a Metropolitan Market close by you can always swing by there first and park they validate for 1-2 hours.

Can I stop by and shop without an appointment?

Yes, please stop by we would love to have you in! We can show you some of our favorite things or let you peruse on your own. If you prefer you can stop in during business hours or check out our online store and shop from your couch and well ship them to you. Thanks for supporting our small business!

How should my hair be on the day of my appointment?

Clean hair please 💕 When in doubt, always clean.

Excess oils or product will create a barrier that hair color may not be able to penetrate properly impeding the results of lift and coverage. We request clients to come to their appointment with their hair/scalp cleansed min 24 hours - max 48 hours prior to coloring. This ensures best results and the least sensitivity!

If you are getting grey coverage clean hair yields a better result. If you are getting balayage we like to trim those dry ends first and smoothed out hair creates the best palette for us to give you the best color and cut.

Completely dry if you are receiving color, we cannot color wet hair so this adds time to your appointment. Please arrive with dry, brushed, smoothed out hair if possible.

What is “clean” “green” or “non toxic” BEAUTY?

There is no standardized, industry measurement to qualify as clean, and brands can claim it no matter what ingredients they use in their formulations. It’s really up to each brand to define what that concept means to them, and then communicate that clearly to the consumer so that they can decide if it meets their standard.

For some, clean just means “use naturally-derived ingredients.” Then the question needs to be, ok but do those ingredients actually do anything? Are they even good for skin or hair? Poison ivy is natural. So is arsenic and lead. None of these are great for skin. Just claiming to use naturally-derived ingredients may get you in the door for clean beauty, but it won’t keep you in the room unless you can demonstrate that the ingredients you’re using are actually effective.

“Clean, green, non toxic” beauty what does it mean to us?

 It's important to know there is a lot of “greenwashing” happening in the beauty industry and know that synthetic chemicals are in nearly everything we touch and consume.  We should be aware of what’s in our products so we can make the right choices for ourselves.  For us, we look at the definition of clean or green beauty in a different way. It’s more about ethical and sustainable production of cosmetic formulas, avoiding ingredients that are unsustainable and formulas that do no harm in their development (so no petrocarbons, use of endangered raw materials, unethical labor practices, recyclable packaging, no animal testing etc.), while still using ingredients and formulations that are actually effective in achieving their promises.

We think of each brand we bring in as a personal relationship. We are conscious about each partnership and align with brands that support sustainability and transparency in their ingredient sourcing. We also stock female founded and supporting LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC brands whenever possible. We partner consciously with B-corporations, Climate-Neutral certified companies whenever possible. Do you have pregnacy safe products in the salon?

Yes we have many pregnancy safe products in the salon and would be happy to make suggestions but feel it is best to determine your comfort level with your doctor or midwife first. The same goes for coloring your hair, please consult your medical professional first. We are of course still here to share our personal experiences with you anytime you like.

Pricing Transparency

We are a gender neutral salon meaning we price our services by length not your gender. Please see our service menu for up to date pricing.
We hope each client leaves feeling like they were heard, educated on all things hair and have the best cut/color of their dreams. With our two chairs we have created an intimate space you can feel welcomed and never rushed.

We prioritize our stylists health and futures which is sadly rare for the beauty industry. We ensure all stylists have medical and dental insurance, pto and a retirement plan. These benefits are rare in the beauty industry, we deserve to care for our bodies and futures and our pricing reflects this.

We have a very thorough consultation process to ensure you have realistic expectations for your first and following appointments to make sure it suits your goals and budget. We want to be sure every client knows what it will take timing and cost wise to get their goal.

SALON POLICIES

Cancellation Policy

In an effort to avoid last minute cancellations or rescheduled appts, we will confirm your appointment 72 hours in advance. Unfortunately, if you cancel your service within 48 hours of your appointment you will be charged 50% of your reserved service cost. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment you will be charged for 100% of your service. This includes cancellations for illness and possible Covid exposure. This appointment time has been set aside for you and its incredibly hard for us to fill an appointment with less than a weeks notice. We reinforce this policy by requiring a credit card to book an appointment with us beforehand. This charge cannot be credited or applied toward another appointment.We are a small business and hope you understand the need for this policy.

Late Arrival Policy

Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment this may result in forfeiting of your service and you will be charged for the full services booked. We pride ourselves by running on time at Sarah Kahn Hair if you are late it doesn’t allow enough time for us to perform the services booked. We will try our very best to accommodate you anyway we can. If you are going to be late please call or text 360-421-7112 in advance.

Kids Policy

As much as we love children ( I am a mom myself), we ask that you please arrange child care for the date of your hair appointment. There are too many liabilities in the salon to count and it is much safer to keep the kids at home. Plus, it’s far more enjoyable for fellow customers.

Returns

We accept products back unused and unopened for a store credit within 7 days of purchase. All tools are final sale

What if I am not happy with my services received?

Luckily we don’t run into this often but want you to know we stand by our work.

If you wish to have an adjustment on your service, please reach out within 7 days to call for an adjustment. We do not offer refunds. Please give us a chance to make things right if you are not 100% happy with your service.
