THE VIBE

Since opening its doors in 2011, Sarah Kahn Hair has welcomed people with open arms to its gender-neutral salon and clean beauty boutique in Seattle’s MarQueen Hotel. We’re all about creating a warm, intimate, fun vibe and making sure everyone feels at home with us (and did we mention it’s super cute?). Go ahead and relax with some tea while waiting for your color to process, or browse our selection of organic beauty and skincare. Whether it’s to shop, get your hair done or just say “hi”—we love having you here.

 Our Commitment to Sustainability

Sarah Kahn Hair is a certified Green Circle Salon. That means we recycle and repurpose hair, foils, color-tubes, papers and plastics and divert excess hair chemicals from being rinsed down the drain. Being gentle on the environment is important to us, and we love being able to say SKH is doing just that! We have an in salon refill program you will want to check out to refill those empties. We consciously partner with B-corporations, Climate Neutral certified companies whenever possible.

Hair Services

We’re a full service hair salon*—from blowouts and styling to haircuts and color of all kinds (we even offer blow-dry lessons!). SKH works with natural textures and tones so even after they leave the salon, our clients are able to achieve the same salon look at home. Our specialities include tailored haircuts, color corrections, copper and redheads, blonding, balayage, highlighting and hair painting. We’ll make sure both your cut and color translate into everyday wearability! Our belief is that hair has no gender and welcome everyone into our salon.

Clean Beauty Boutique

Sarah Kahn Hair has grown to include a green beauty boutique that’s a perfect reflection of how we love to shop! Now, in addition to providing hair services, we’ve grown into a carefully curated retail haven for clean beauty and personal care products, all displayed in a thriving space with a comfortable, uplifting energy.     

Enter through the hotel lobby at our MarQueen Hotel location to browse, ask us questions—we love questions!—and shop our favorite clean, non-toxic skincare, makeup and haircare. We have a feeling you’ll fall in love with clean beauty. (It happens.)

WHY CLEAN BEAUTY

As someone who grew up on an organic farm, I’m well versed in organic food—but my journey to green beauty, like so many others who have taken it, was long and winding. I’ve since fallen in love with clean products, and strive to keep harmful or questionable chemicals out of the salon as much as possible. Check out our FAQ here!

At Sarah Kahn Hair, you’ll find carefully edited collections of such beloved brands as Vintner’s Daughter, Olverum, Rahua, Reverie, Herbivore Botanicals and Leonor Greyl, to name a few. My passion for supporting woman-owned and female-founded transparent beauty brands has also led me to discover niche brands you may have never heard of—but they’ve been tried and tested (and re-tested) by us, and we promise you’ll love them as much as we do!

THE TEAM

Meet Sarah Kahn (she/her)

Having my own hair salon was a dream of mine from the moment I began doing hair in 2001. I knew it would be inviting, relaxing and luxurious—a place where I could uplift people and make them feel their best.

 Through the years, I’ve studied with Allilon, Vidal Sassoon, Davines, Aveda, Sally Rogerson, Kurt Kueffner, Antoinette Beenders, and many other amazingly talented hairdressers. I’ve also had the pleasure of studying with the legendary makeup artist Rudy Miles at Aveda. Owning Sarah Kahn Hair has allowed—and inspired!—me to continue to meld my love of people with bringing out their inner beauty, all while evolving in my creative pursuits, vision and passions.

 From continuing education on the latest haircutting and coloring techniques and trends to what’s new in the world of clean beauty, makeup and skincare, I remain curious as to what’s next and committed to growing in my profession. There is so much joy in learning—and even greater joy in implementing new skills to help a client reveal their radiance.

 As always, my intention for Sarah Kahn Hair remains the same: To welcome everyone who steps inside with warmth, to infuse their day with positivity, to surround them with comfort and have them leave feeling confident, beautiful and with a connection to their community—and us!

MEET Taylor Miller (she/her)

Doing hair has been a passion since I was a young gal braiding hair for snacks in middle school in my hometown of Las Vegas. After finishing my training and working for five years at a salon alongside an extremely talented group of people, I traded cactus and desert for the lush greenery of Seattle, where I joined Sarah Kahn Hair in 2016.

 Being a member of Sarah Kahn Hair means being part of the team—and our clients feel that warmth we share! We love working together to ensure our clients leave feeling amazing about the way they look—it’s the most gratifying part of my day.

 As I’ve immersed myself in the SKH world of green beauty and safe, clean products, I have become a true convert: I now know the power of nature. It makes me so happy to help clients make this discovery, as well—and to help them realize they don’t need to compromise performance for safety.
