This color technique is great for someone who wants to color 3-4 times a year and likes a more “lived in look.” We often use foil, balayage or a combination of both of these techniques.

During a color consultation we will assess what best complements your skin tone and enhances your natural features. We will also go over maintenance level and budget. These factors are all taken into consideration.

This service maintenance is normally 2-3 hours of time spent in the salon quarterly.

Single-process hair color is called "single-process" because it involves applying only one color to the hair in one step. It can be permanent color, meaning it won't wash out over time but will fade gradually as new hair grows in. Semi permanent is great for someone who wants to go darker and likes color to fade over time.

A single process color appointment is normally 1.5 hours depending on your length and density.

Grey blending aims to subtly blend the gray hairs with the natural hair color rather than completely covering them. The outcome of grey coverage is a hair color that appears uniform and consistent, with all gray hairs effectively concealed. This approach provides a more dramatic change compared to grey blending and is suitable for individuals who prefer to eliminate visible gray hair entirely.

What technique we choose is determined by your comfort level with maintenance (what we call time spent in the chair), your budget, and your desired look.

Hair color most commonly needs to be maintained every 8-12 weeks. We will always work with you to make sure your goal matches your budget and lifestyle.

All our hair color appointments include a conditioning gloss. They are applied to the mid lengths to the ends of the hair. This adds shine and condition to the hair.

Excess oils or product will create a barrier that hair color may not be able to penetrate properly impeding the results of lift and coverage. We request clients to come to their appointment with their hair/scalp cleansed min 24 hours - max 48 hours prior to coloring. This ensures best results and the least sensitivity!

If you are getting grey coverage clean hair yields a better result. If you are getting balayage we like to trim those dry ends first and smoothed out hair creates the best palette for us to give you the best color and cut.

Completely dry if you are receiving color, we cannot color wet hair so this adds time to your appointment. Please arrive with dry, brushed, smoothed out hair if possible.

Healthy hair is our first prioroty at SKH. We will work with you to be sure we are always prioritizing the health of your hair while coloring by maintaining with a trim or haircut.

We do 99% of our consults successfully over the phone before booking you. We ask for photos in advance then discuss what's working and not to be sure we're the best fit! We offer in person consultations if needed and charge accordingly for our time starting at $50 for a 15 minute consultation.

are your coloring products safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Coloring your hair while pregnant is a personal choice. We have many pregnancy safe products in the salon and would be happy to make suggestions but feel it is best to determine your comfort level with your doctor or midwife first. When it comes to coloring your hair, please consult your medical professional first. We are of course still here to share our personal experiences with you anytime you like.
