Cream blush may seem scary to use, but in reality, it is quite simple. It requires a delicate touch and only your finger! While it takes a little getting used to, the results are AMAZING! With our tips and the right product, you will be able to have that rosy glow and hydrated skin that everyone is looking forward to in the Seattle summer months.

1. Start with a Moisturized and Hydrated Face

We love Vintners Daughter Active Botanical Serum, $185. This holy grail must-have serum absorbs so nicely into the skin you will thank us immediately. Not to mention some additional benefits : anti-inflammatory, balancing, nourishing, renewing, protecting, hydrating and brightening. Read some great testimonials about Vintners Daughter here.

You can even kick it up a notch and use a hydration mist on top. We love the Herbivore Botanicals Rose Mist, $32 for quick and effortless moisture.

    2. Use the Right Cream Blush

The best way to ensure that you will get that perfect rosy, dewy glow is to have the right cream blush! You want one that will go on sheer, but is buildable so that it is versatile for all uses. At SKH, we also care about our ingredients and go for the all natural, green and organic ingredients. Our favorites are the Kjaer Weis cream blush in the shade Reverence, $56, and the RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in the shade Demure, $36. These shades are gorgeous soft pinks that will give your cheeks just enough color to get you through the day. These blushes are certified organic and made with oils that help keep the skin supple and smooth. They will literally make you glow from within!

    3. Use the Right Tools

Another secret to making the blush go on smoothly and evenly is to use the right tools. Our favorite tool for cream products is the fingers. Fingers help to warm up the cream products so that you can get the amount of product you need and the heat can also help supplement blending the product into the skin. With that said, sometimes we want to build up the coverage on top of other makeup. In this case, a stippling brush is your go-to! Our favorite stippling brush is the RMS Skin2Skin Blush Brush, $34. It is a vegan and cruelty-free brush that is designed to pick up just the right amount of color. It will glide the product smoothly onto your cheeks without messing up any of your foundation. Make sure to come pick this up in our Seattle Salon for an in person tutorial.

    4. Try it on your lips!

Why not get the most out of your cream blush? The RMS Lip2Cheek and the Kjaer Weis cream blushes are both incredibly versatile and long-lasting, which make them perfect as lip colors. With their formulas of natural oils to soothe the skin and the buildable color, it'd be a missed opportunity to not use these on the lips. Cream blushes are easy to use and when you carry it on a travel bag or in your purse, it doubles as a lip and cheek color! Some may even argue that it can be used on the eyelids too if you're really trying to look dewy (P.S. WE ARE).

    4. Layer with Powder for Longevity

Cream blush is meant to add hydration and dewiness to the face. However it is oil-based, so that means it can wear off throughout the day. Some cream blushes like RMS and Kjaer Weis are long-lasting, but even then, they can still wear off in the heat. In order to ensure your cheeks are always glowing, you may want to add a swipe of translucent powder over top which will set the look. We have 2 faves in salon, the RMS "Un" Powder, $34 and the Kjaer Weis Powder, $58. Both soak up unwanted oil without looking cakey. Bonus!
