Q: Should I come with clean hair to my appointment?

A: In short the answer is, no it normally doesn't matter if you come in with clean hair. However, if you have a lot of hair and are getting a color service, it makes our jobs easier. If you are getting balayage we do ask that you come with clean, dry and brushed out hair.

Q: Is box dye or at home hair coloring ever OK?

A: Absolutely not under any circumstances. Box dye has a laundry list of THE WORSTS. It is harsh, unpredictable, damaging, and most of all it makes it really hard to correct in the salon due to its nature. It contains chemicals that can be incredibly harmful for the environment and that just doesn't agree with out green beauty standards. Just say no to box dye. If you are on a budget you can always try a beauty school or find a beginner stylist who needs models! There are many other options out there. In Seattle try Gary Manuel Aveda Institute or Gene Juarez Academy or Tony and Guy!

Q: Warm or Cool tones?

A: This is a hot topic in the salon because 1) It's our job to tell you what looks best on your skin tone and 2) All color will pull warm unless its the most pale, lightest blonde (hello high maintenance). It's best to work together to find a color that suits your lifestyle, budget and maintenance level so it looks better, longer. This may just be a warm tone! Shhhh, here is a secret..... almost all hair pulls warm!

Q: My hair color seems to fade or turn brassy no matter what I do. Why?

A: Oxidation is usually the main cause for this (the way dye molecules change when exposed to air) and minerals in your water can turn dyed hair brassy. You can’t prevent it, but you can slow it by avoiding harsh shampoos, hot irons, and the sun, which all speed the fading process. A product that can help protect your colored locks is a good leave-in conditioner like Davines Oi Beautifying Potion, $23 or the Davines Melu Shield, $36 which is a thermal protectant spray. The Leonor Greyl Serum de Soie Sublimateur, $46 is another favorite as it has a naturally occurring sunscreen to keep fading at bay.  All our products contain natural ingredients that not only keep your hair looking healthy on the outside, but on the inside too. To truly keep your hue the best it can be, come in for a touch-up or gloss every 4-6 weeks.

Q: Whats the best conditioning treatment or way to make my hair healthier?

A: Frequent trims. Literally, that's the MAJOR KEY! Trimming the hair once every 6-8 weeks. Trims will keep all parts of the hair as healthy as possible and allow it to grow longer as there won't be any dead split ends that can make the hair feel dry or brittle. Come visit us for your trim schedule and we can help give you a timeline that best fits your hair as we know that all hair grows at a different lengths.  We have a few different in salon treatments we offer whether its Olaplex, Rahua Omega Mask or Davines. All of our in salon treatments are able to target your hair specific needs.
