5 Things to Consider Before Going Lighter This Summer

What You Should Know Before Going Lighter

1. Book a consultation

This step is super important to make sure you’re on the same page with your colorist. Does the color you want suit you? Can you maintain it while keeping your hair healthy? Is it in your budget? These are all questions to ask prior to booking. Make sure not to skip this step before coloring as it can be incredibly helpful to get an expert's opinion!

2. Be realistic

As a colorist, I would only ever recommend moving the clients hair three shades lighter than their natural level, as that generally is the most flattering. Lightening the hair more can take multiple consultations and weeks of going back into the salon to get the color right.

3. Tone

Most people say they see red or warmth in their color. YES! That’s completely true. All hair has warmth and not everyone looks good with ashy tones. These are the hardest to maintain and require weekly treatments. This is a great discussion to have with your colorist.

4. Maintenance

Please be ready to come into the salon at least quarterly at a minimum and normally more for glosses in between lightening sessions. Maintaining the color is the hardest part but we will do our best to make as easy as possible for you and your hair!

5. Home care

There will be more stress to your hair than before you went lighter so we recommend weekly treatments like the Davines Vegetarian Miracle deep conditioner to be left on the hair for 1 hour. In addition, the Olaplex treatment in the Salon after your service is always a good idea!

We are happy to help your lighter summer hair goals come true. Please, before booking, send a picture of your current hair and a goal picture so we can get a plan in place for you and your hair!

XO,

SKH
